sources for my master bedroom

Putting together this room has been a very slow process..and! to be completely honest I feel like it's missing a few components even still. I am planning on going up to Ikea in Toronto Thursday and Friday to hopefully find somethings to fill in those gaps. In the meantime, I thought I would show you what and where things are coming from.

Bed! The most beautiful and pleasant surprise of all. Since I was traveling this weekend, I wasn't able to put the side boards on yet, but the headboard itself was sooo easy. I actually put it together myself in a matter of 10 minutes.

I scoured the internet for real bedrooms that had Skyline furniture in it and read any review I could find. The reviews were so-so and without a visual I was very hesitant purchasing this piece. My source: Costco (right?!). I don't even have a membership, and it has free shipping with orders over $100. Even with the added fee for not having a membership, it was only $560! You can't even get a JCPenny bed for that price. It looks sooo much more expensive that that and like I said a breeze to put together. I will actually start to consider other Skyline pieces in the future.

Curtains! I really wanted a french pinch pleat, but couldn't find anything really affordable online...soo I went to JCPenny on my lunch break randomly and found SILK french pinch pleats. They are a beautiful warm ivory and of course were very expensive at $110 for the set. Turns out they are 60% off and if you have a 10% coupon from this Sunday's paper...I turned this puppies into a $45 purchase.

Curtain rod and clips are an aged bronze and are from Christmas Tree Shop. Rod was only $4.99 and the clips were only $5.99 (I used store credit, so the total was a big fat $0).

Dressers! Our dresser set was purchased from the VA store off of Main Street in the city. If you haven't been I HIGHLY suggest it. We found a long dresser and an upright chest that had great bamboo detailed trim along with gorgeous bronze hardware and corners. Total cost: $139 for both + $25 in paint.

We chose this color after looking at a bunch of inspirational photos. I think the slate blue/gray is just as neutral as a white, or black.

Obviously we chose the last one, and decided on a color called "Chimney Smoke"

Side Tables! These were an awesome craigslist find. A super nice old man had his son post them for him--cute right? They were bamboo-esq brass nesting tables in PERFECT condition. Price tag: $10 (for both!)

Problem: They were way too low to the ground. So...I found these and threw them on only the biggest table to give some height for functionality. It also saved me a lot of money.

Price tag per foot was $8 on ebay. I ordered 8; 4 for each side. They were a little wobbly, but after some twisting and shoving they do the trick and the space between the top and middle layer is actually really helpful for books or my collection of house decor porn.

Starting to accessorize...I still haven't found a pair of lamps that scream out to me for the nesting tables. I wanted to wait until I got the bed full assembled so I can make sure I get the right scale. However, I did start adding art work to the room.

The top piece shown is actually oil on thick paper that was in a really ugly frame from Henrietta Goodwill. It was $4.99 and fit perfectly into this raised older wood frame that had nothing in it for $2.99. The nude is actually a poster from www.art.com for $17 bucks and is in a large rose-silver frame from Target for $10 bucks. I also ordered this colorful poster for $5 and cut it down for this scalloped wood frame. Please don't look at the top of this dresser and assume it's complete. I just have been playing with the pieces to see what I think needs to be painted and where it might be hung.

From the VA Store, I also purchased this crystal lamp to play off the chandelier that I purchased from www.Overstock.com a couple of years ago. Total cost for the lamp? $10.

There is also a really cool carved jewelry box that plays a really pretty melody lined with aqua blue velvet that I grabbed up at Savers for only $2.99.

If you haven't checked out Creativ Framing, you really need to. She's on my Facebook page and does amazing custom mats and frames. This is a bamboo trimmed frame from Savers that my husband and I had our photo booth pics matted into. Total cost for frame and custom mat? $38.

Lastly, I grabbed this mirror from Craigslist. I love the bow detail- I think it femmes up the room a lot. Price tag? $15.

Let me grab some accessories from Ikea this week and then I'm having professional photos taken on the 16th. I can't wait to show everyone the final ta-da!
