online sales: skyline

Joss and Main are having a huge Skyline furniture sale. I have to say that although I LOVE my Skyline nailhead bed in Linen Sandstone (See below):

My first choice was the tufted wingback bed. Only draw back was when I ordered they only had it in Velvet...which the sample looked so cheap...but NOOOOWWW they have it in a variety of linens. All gorgeous!

My favorites include the linen sandstone and charcoal.

before and after: console table

Short on cash these days, but want to update some of your current pieces? Check out what a fellow blogger did to totally transform her entry way!

First she trimmed out a piece of fabric and tested for length. Then she stapled down the fabric on the front and side panels.

Using hemming tape and a iron she put on this gorgeous red key trim. JoAnn's $3 or less!!

Using hemming tape again she pulled the rough edges in and ironed them down to create a beautiful seam. and then used fabric glue to glue to top panel onto the console table.

Keeping a front seam for access to items stored inside, this completed the look. Super clean and super functional!!

In the market for a new sofa? I know we are in a couple months. The frame is totally shot. It's from Value City Furniture.

Although the overall design is nice, the construction of the couch itself is POOR POOR POOR. I actually don't even use the slipper chair or the ottoman. We use the sofa and then flank two Goodwill chairs I had reupholstered in a cream and light blue zebra print. 

You can see here in the photo that the cushions won't hold their shape. They tend to round out and it doesn't matter how you fluff them you can't get that square look back. Also, in the center, the couch dips. I've contacted Value City and I do have a lifetime warranty on it, but they say that the frame has to be dipped consistently all the way around...honestly how would the ends dip? I've looked into having the pillows replaced and they have to measure the same flatness on all sides...wouldn't that make them square again?

Anyway; lesson learned, no more Value City.

bar carts

Bar carts may seem a little weird, but they actually are really nice to have if you live in a small space. I found one at the VA store for only $30, but I won't show you let until I can polish it up :)


I've had a couple get-togethers at my home where loading the bar car up with glasses, beers, chasers, etc all in one area is easy for my guests, while at the same time helps me use my counter space for food. Dining room or living room, these babies come in handy.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think Savers gets new shipments brought to the floor on Thursdays.

Price tag for 4 ming inspired floral tea plates? $2.99

Large print: ballerinas. I want to say this is about 16-17 inches tall. Price tag? $4.99

Trio of light green bird tiles. These tin tiles would be really interesting in a shadow box. Price tag? $2.99 a piece.

Latin-inspired print with light pink mat. Beautiful colors in person. Height is 14-16 inches. Price tag? $5.99.

Crystal and brass side table clock. Super cute in a guest room. Price tag? $3.99.

These amber glass liquor cravats on a bar cart or as bookends in a living room. Either way at $2.99 for the pair you can't beat it!

The scale on this is amazing. This Asian flared chandelier could easily be painted if you didn't want the brass look. Price tag? $14.99.

First off, I love each and every one of these trunks! Price tag? $15 per trunk.

Use them as side tables, console tables, hampers, etc...get creative!

This has got to be the cutest little dish. I would use to to store a jar of honey or butter...it's hard to see, but it's a beehive with the tiniest bee on top. Price tag? $1.99.

I apologize for the bad photo, but it was really dark in this part of the room, and then  the chandelier was hanging over their fluorescent lights. This brass light fixture could be spray painted a rubbed bronze or silver. On the glass panels are etched sunbursts.  Price tag? $15.
